The Council

The Jabiru Town Council is comprised of seven elected councillors, one of which is appointed as Chairperson. Unlike other Councils in the Top End, Jabiru Council elections are held every two years, rather than every four. The seven elected councillors are chosen by the residents to make decisions for the betterment of the community. The chair of the council is selected by the Councillors.

The current Council was elected on 27 May 2006.

Jabiru Council meetings follow the Alice Springs (Council Meetings and Procedures) by-laws . It is governed by the Jabiru Town Development Act of 1979.

Council Meetings

At present Council meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

When an elected Council is sitting, Works and Administration Committee Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month and Ordinary Council meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
